Week of June 3
A community book launch, LACMA's grand opening block party, an immersive vinyl listening experience in Venice, a silent piano concert in Elysian Park, and a West Adams icon returning to the table. Here's what we'd have on our calendar.
Crimes, Conversation & Cocktails with Rob Rosen
Haps Club member and Emmy-winning investigative journalist Rob Rosen is celebrating the launch of his debut book Crimes of Omission at Planta, hosted by Aloni. Cocktails, good people, free tickets — the kind of room where the conversation carries the night.

LACMA's David Geffen Galleries — Grand Opening Weekend
Twenty years in the making, LACMA's new Peter Zumthor-designed David Geffen Galleries are celebrating their grand opening with a free block party on Saturday, June 20 — free museum admission, live music, food, and Jeffrey Deitch's Art Parade closing out Wilshire Boulevard. Keep your calendar open that Saturday. We may have something special planned for the Haps Club community that day.

Vinyl & Violin — An Immersive Listening Experience
Inspired by Japan's ongaku kissa culture — where the record is sacred and the room is built around the sound — this intimate evening features violinist and composer Emer Kinsella playing her album Concurrence live on vinyl, with live violin woven in and a guided discussion about inner journeys. No shuffle, no algorithm. Just analog sound, wine, and a room designed for deep listening. Hosted at The KINN in Venice.

MindTravel: Silent Piano Concert at Elysian Park
Slip on wireless headphones and sit in the grass while composer Murray Hidary plays live, improvisational piano directly into your ears. No speakers — just the music, the park, and the night sky. Several Haps Club members are already going. Arrive by 7:00 PM; headphones provided.
📍 Elysian Park, 929 Academy Rd · 7:30 PM
Alta Adams Returns — A New Chapter in West Adams
Chef Keith Corbin is bringing Alta back with a reimagined menu — seasonal California cuisine rooted in the American South, Africa, Asia, and Mesoamerica. Shared plates, no fixed courses, dishes arriving as they're ready. Reservations are open now.
📍 5359 W. Adams Blvd, West Adams
